I love Easter.  A sign of new life, the promise of warmer weather, and chocolate.  Plus, almost 7 years ago the Easter Bunny brought us our first baby on Easter Sunday.  Needless to say this holiday certainly holds a special place in my heart.  As we pulled out of our driveway around 4am that morning to head to the hospital, I’ll never forget seeing two bunnies sitting in our front yard.  It was one of those signs from above that everything was happening exactly the way it was meant to.

Just look at that little bunny…

Our first baby was born on Easter Sunday. What a blessing!

He arrived just in time for Easter dinner.

But the changing date of Easter each year causes the holiday to tend to sneak up on me.  Cue Amazon Prime!

Today I’m going to share some Amazon Prime Easter basket-worthy possibilities with you.

My oldest is soon to be 7, so I won’t pretend to know much about what excites after that.

But what came first, the bunny or the egg??

Bunnies aren’t hatched, silly! I’m talking about Easter eggs.  And probably much like your family, dying them is one of our favorite Easter traditions.  We usually use this traditional dying kit.

{To find out more about a product or to make a purchase, click on the image.} Me and that magic writing crayon go way back.  But this year we discovered this amazing egg decorating contraption in a toy store, and were able to play with it. My 3 year old thought it was the coolest thing ever and even my 1 year old had no trouble doing it.  As long as you can hold one of the included markers in your hand, you too can make beautiful eggs!

Our other favorite tradition for preparing for our cotton-tailed friend is this movie here. It’s super old-school, which I actually love, and explains it’s version of how the Easter Bunny came to be a long with other Easter traditions like lilies and jelly beans.

What are your family’s favorite Easter traditions?

Now on to the Easter basket ideas.

In addition to, of course, peeps, jelly-bean filled plastic eggs, and peanut butter cup eggs, a few of my favorite basket fillers include sidewalk chalk and bubbles.  You can never have too many of those things.  And these are totally doable at the dollar store, but if you’re looking for one-stop shopping or for a slight upgrade, I’ve done your homework for you.  So go reheat that coffee and let’s play bunny!

Go-to Easter Basket Fillers

My other go-to is a new swim suit for everyone.  This bunny likes things that helps us make the best of the upcoming season, and beach and pool season are right around the corner! Hold up, skip the chocolate in my basket please.  Who am I kidding?  Just make it 3 Cadbury eggs instead of the entire 4 pack.  That’s better.

So here are a few other spring-inspired ideas for a variety of ages.

Kites

Let’s go fly a kite.  Here at the beach, it’s always kite season.

Walmart has a good selection on the cheaper end for the younger crowd.  But here are a few the older ones might appreciate:

Gardening Tools

What else says spring time like gardening? The little bitties get super excited just to have their own watering can.  For the older ones, a packet of seeds and some tiny planter pots from the dollar store for them to decorate is an exciting lesson in nature.  Here are a few other garden-inspired ideas.

Animals

No, not live chicks.  Although secretly I’m always hoping for them.  But other ways to explore nature and new life.  #1 received the butterfly kit for his birthday last year and we will be ordering refills.  It was magical!  And because last year #3 literally found and ate a beetle in the middle of Easter basket opening, some safer bets for the littles.

Religious Gifts

The reason for the season.  Inspirations from above.  Because silly rabbit, Easter is for Jesus.

We certainly don’t include ALL of these things.  But I hope these ideas will help you and your bunnies have an egg-cellent Easter!

  1. These are very creative ideas for filling an Easter basket for your kiddos! I love including books and outdoor activities for the warmer weather in my daughter’s basket. She’s only 17 months so no chocolate eggs yet, but board books, bubbles, a ball, and a watering can!
